Events Belarus Independence Day04-07-2008 «Ashtarak-Kat» CJSC visited the embassy of Belarus in Armenia and extended its heartiest congratulations. Liberation of Belarus from the fascist invaders on July 3, 1944 is the day of independence for the country. Belarus is firm on its chosen way of development and stands for its independence and sovereignty. But in fact Belarus gained it s total independence only after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The series of events that led to Belarus's independence began with the explosion at the Chernobyl' nuclear power plant on April 26, 1986. The foot-dragging of the government in Moscow announced that the accident had occurred, let alone evacuating people from affected areas and providing funds for the cleanup, greatly angered the Belarus people, most of whom had no political aspirations for independence. Only their strong will help them to overcome and gain so much desired independence.
